The wait is officially over, because ZHU has made his triumphant return. Earlier this week, the mysterious producer posted a link to a brand new website, with scrambled letters in the background and nothing but the banner, “Genesis Series.” Rumors ran rampant, as people speculated whether it was the elusive producer’s next album, a brand new live concept, or something completely different.
Since exploding onto the scene in 2014, ZHU has continued to remain anonymous, forgoing all opportunities with press or any personal appearances in favor of letting his music speak for itself. A year later, it is safe to say that his debut EP, The Nightday, spoke volumes about dance music on its way to over 50 million plays, making ZHU one of dance music’s most promising, up-and-coming talents.
Today, the illustrious producer finally unveiled the first track of his Genesis Series project, a collaboration with AlunaGeorge titled “Automatic.” Smooth, sexy string sequences welcome you into the track in the opening seconds, before peeling back the curtain to unveil a bubbly, complex bass line, deep, groovy synths, polished piano chords, and even a sexy saxophone solo against AlunaGeorge’s silky, sultry croons. This one is going straight into the “bedroom” playlist, because it is just oozing sex.
